Mixed Berries Protein Smoothie

Mixed Berries Protein Smoothie is a take from my favorite health food store here in my town, Garden City, NY.  My smoothie is made with protein powder, fresh mixed berries, bananas, non-dairy Almond beverage, walnuts, honey and flax oil.

High in protein, a nutritional drink that is an excellent source of antioxidants and loaded with Vitamins!  Great for teenagers that are always on the go, as a healthy breakfast drink or as an afternoon snack.  For everyone, it's a great way to start your day!

Protein smoothies are the "in thing" these days, since they're always recommended on  TV shows, like Oprah and Dr. Oz.   Most items in my recipe can be found in organic stores or in Stop & Shop Supermarkets. Try them with your favorite fruits and beverages.  It's a perfect way to promote your family's healthy lifestyle....  Drink up everyone!

Here's a Tip:  I like my smoothies extra chilled.  So I buy fresh fruit, wash and freeze them in air-tight containers, including my bananas. It saves me time on the days when I can't get to the market to buy them fresh.  You can also buy the frozen organic mixed berries in packages at your local health food stores.

Mixed Berries Protein Smoothie

1 scoop protein powder -( Spiru-tein protein powder)
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup raspberries
1/4 cup blackberries ( about 4 large ones)
1 small banana
4 large strawberries - sliced
3-4 walnuts
1 Tbsp. of pure honey
1 Tbsp. organic Flax Oil -(Barlean's)
1 cup (8oz) organic Almond non-dairy beverage- ( Pacific )
some ice cubes

Wash and rinse all berries. Using an electric Blender
Add all the ingredients and puree for 2-3 minutes. Serve immediately!

Makes 2-4 smoothies.

Into the Blender everything goes !

  1. We make the same minus the walnuts and flax seed oil. Will have to add them in.

  2. Thanks Carla. The walnuts give a nutty flavor to the smoothie along with the flax oil that gives the Omega 3's. Definitely add them!
