Pasta with Smoked Salmon in a Creamy Sauce

Farfalle Pasta with Smoked Salmon, heavy cream, onions and cheese is a mouth watering seafood dish!  This pasta dish will trump any seafood pasta in any restaurant for sure.

This has to be the easiest, most delicious pasta dish for any salmon lover!   You won't believe how easy it is to make.  Using only 5 ingredients,  just cook the Farfalle Pasta to al dente,  then add to the creamy  salmon mixture, stir in some grated cheese and onto the table it goes!   And, yes I said "cheese"...not very common in Italian seafood dishes - at least not in Southern Italy, but this one does- and its outstanding!

I like to use smoked salmon that is all natural, no nitrates nor preservatives added. No salt nor pepper needed in this dish either, the salmon, onion and cream gives enough flavor to the pasta  and its so good!

I know what you are thinking....who needs another pasta dish? right ? Well,  I think you should add this one to your list as a must try!

When family or friends come to stay with us from Italy, its always exciting!  Our relatives from Naples stayed with us recently for 22 days, which gave us the opportunity to learn more authentic and delicious recipes.  All the sight-seeing we did with them in the big apple was  fun,  but we mostly enjoyed learning new recipes.  It was really a lot of fun to cook with them all the time.

Pasta with Smoked Salmon in a Creamy Sauce

  • 1 pound of Farfalle pasta
  • 4 ounces of Smoked Salmon- chopped
  • ( I used Blue Hill Bay Smoked Salmon)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 small onion - minced
  • 1/3 cup of Olive Oil
  • 1/2 cup parmigiano reggiano cheese

Bring a large pot of water to boil and add some salt. Add the Farfalle Pasta.
Follow the directions on the package. About 6-8 minutes.

Use a large non-stick skillet. Heat the olive oil on medium heat.  Add the minced onion. Saute for a few minutes until the onion becomes translucent.

Using a food processor, or a mini chopper,  add the chopped pieces of smoked salmon and chop into tiny pieces.

Add the chopped salmon to the skillet.  Lower the heat and cook for 2 minutes.

Add  only 1/2 cup of heavy cream and saute for a 2 minutes. Turn off heat.

Check the pasta, should be al denteTurn off heat when ready.
Using a large ladle with holes, carefully ladle the pasta and place it directly into the skillet.

Turn flame back on to low heat, add the other half cup of heavy cream.
Gently stir the pasta until the creamy mixture and salmon is well combined.

Add the grated parmigiano cheese on top. Stir again.  Serve immediately.
