EASY Bacon Cheeseburger Pinwheels

Bacon Cheeseburger Pinwheels are fun appetizers to bring to any gathering.  They are loaded with bits of crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese and browned chop meat, rolled into a sheet of pastry puff and baked for 12 minutes until golden brown.

Easy as pie!

We were invited to a neighbors cocktail party a few weeks ago I and made these cheeseburger pinwheels as an appetizer.  These pinwheels are filled with meat and cheese and bacon and taste like my favorite cheeseburger.  They were easy to make and easy to reheat in the oven just before the guests were served.

Crunchy on the outside, delicious filling inside.  The bacon is what really sent them over the top!  Everyone loved them.

I actually made two different kinds of pinwheels as appetizers using my pastry puff sheets, especially since there I had 2 sheets from the box.

The other recipe will be posted later this week.

In the meantime, I hope you’ll try this recipe!

It’s finally feeling like Spring again, with birds singing, flowers blooming, everyone is out walking, enjoying the sun.   We look forward to cooking up more exciting recipes for you, we can’t wait.  Thanks for stopping by!

EASY Bacon Cheeseburger Pinwheels

  • 6 ounce package center cut bacon ( I used about 7 slices)
  • 1/2 package of puff pastry sheets (1 sheet)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 Tbsp. grated pecorino cheese
  • 1 cup mild shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cooked chopped meat (about 1 hamburger patty)
  • salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste
  • olive oil cooking spray

Open the puff pastry package, remove 1 sheet and place the other back into your freezer.  Allow to thaw at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

In the meantime, open package of bacon and put about 7 slices of bacon in to the microwave and cook for about 5 to 7 minutes, until the bacon is cooked and crispy.  Drain on paper towels.
Break bacon into small pieces, set aside.

Preheat oven 400 degrees.
In a small bowl, mix egg and parmesan cheese together and set aside.
Lightly spray a large baking pan with cooking oil.

Using a tray or counter space to work on.  Unfold one pastry sheet on lightly floured surface.  Brush on top with some of the egg mixture.
Scatter with cheddar cheese on top, then scatter with the bacon pieces and chop meat.
Lightly season on top with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

Pick up one end of the sheet and roll it up like a jelly roll.

Use a knife to gently cut the roll into 15 to 17 slices (about 1/2- inch thick).
Place slices cut-side down on baking sheet. Brush  lightly on top with some egg mixture.

Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until golden brown.  Serve warm or at room temperature.

Yields: 15 to 17 pinwheels
