How to Make Easy Chicken Wonton Soup?
Making this easy chicken wonton soup was a breeze! (*full printable recipe card below!)
This soup is ideal for everyone. All you need is a carton of Chicken Broth, some fresh vegetables, and these mini wonton’s. Then the rest if easy!
1. First, I made it using my staple ingredients as the base for all my soups- celery, carrot, onion, garlic, and olive oil, only this time I simmered these ingredients with chicken broth for a few minutes until they soften.
2. Then at the very last minute, I dropped in frozen mini wontons and simmered for additional few minutes, until they were tender. And the soup was ready.
Notes & Tips…
- These days, I prefer to keep packages of frozen mini wontons on hand lately. I found them in the freezer section at Trader Joe’s.
- These mini wontons come in a variety of packages filled with cabbage, chicken, and mixed veggies.
- Plus, they’re not expensive at all, they cost around $4.00 per bag.
- Mini wontons are convenient to pull out when you need a quick appetizer before dinner, or just when you need to drop them into a pot of soup as I did here.
- Serve with our Chicken Cauliflower Rice Stir-Fry as the main course, and enjoy a fabulous dinner!
Variations To Making This Soup…
- add in some baby Bok Choy
- toss in a few sliced mushrooms
- garnish with some chives or chopped green onions
- drizzle with a little sesame oil
- serve with chili garlic sauce, if desired.
This chicken wonton soup always turns out delicious! Your family and friends will enjoy this soup as much as we do!
Now, to end the story I started, when my daughter came home, she quickly picked up a tub of this soup and said she was in a hurry while she was running out the door.
And even though I showed her how to make this Chicken Wonton Soup, let’s just say, this was one of those soups I hope she’ll attempt to make it on her own. …I’m being optimistic 🙂
Enjoy this Soup!!

I loved this recipe even though I made a few changes. I pre-cooked my Mirepoix (Onions, carrots, & celery) to sweeten them a little before adding the Chicken broth and garlic, and simmering for 6 minutes. Then I used Sesame oil insted of Olive oil to add to the broth right brfore adding the mini wontons and cabbage. Then right before serving I add gold and white corn and top with green onions and sweet chili sauce.

Yum – I bet that is a great dinner. We don't have Trader Joe's but I'll look around and see if I can find these mini's. You are a good mom – now she can find the recipe anytime she needs it!
